Salma Hayek opens up about her body image issues in such a real way
Salma Hayek is hands-down one of the most beautiful women in the world — ahem, in 2007, she topped Forbes‘ Hollywood’s Sexist Celebrities list and almost ten years later looks almost exactly the same. But, as we know, even stunning celebrities have “meh” body image days, and it turns out Salma is no different.
During an interview with InStyle UK, Salma explains:
Well I am entering my fifties so your body confidence isn’t that good. I think it depends on the day, for everybody, there’s some days you say, ‘this is it,’ and you love it. Then there are days when you go, ‘this can not be it! Is this really it?’ So I think it’s up and down all the time!
Yup, even the beautiful and talented and wonderful Salma succumbs to the insane pressures so many women (and men!) face. No matter who you are, you’re not immune from feeling like you need to look a certain way in order to be beautiful. And while we all KNOW, in our bones, that these expectations are just silly, we’ve all been hard on ourselves and our bodies.
Salma went on to explain how she combats these icky feelings: by empowering and celebrating herself!
You have to get up and become your own work of art; from the moment you put yourself together. Not that I do it! I am quite lazy in the queen department. But celebrate who you are and celebrate life and know that this is your experience.
We love your honesty, Salma!
