Forget all those Hey Girl memes, because Ryan Gosling just said the single, most perfect thing that could ever come out of his mouth. (Seriously though, we’re not forgetting the memes. Like, ever.)
In a new interview with the UK’s Evening Standard, our favorite imaginary boyfriend shared some of his feelings about women. Get ready to swoon, guys. Here’s what he had to say:
“I think women are better than men. They are stronger, more evolved. You can tell especially when you have daughters and you see their early stages, they are just leaps and bounds beyond boys immediately.”
Cue our dreamy sigh.
Gosling is the dad to two small daughters, newborn Esmeralda and Amada (21 months), with Eva Mendes. There’s a lot of estrogen in the Gosling-Mendes house, so he knows first-hand what he’s talking about.
We’re guessing a large part of his respect for women also comes from the strong relationship he has with his mom, Donna. In the Evening Standard interview, he also discussed witnessing sexism and catcalling as a young boy. TBH it’s a little heartbreaking. He said, “I grew up with women so I’ve always been aware of it. When my mother and I walked to the grocery store, men would circle the block in cars. It was very, very scary, especially as a young boy. Very predatory — a hunt.” EXACTLY.
Just when we thought we couldn’t adore you more, Ryan Gosling, you proved us wrong. Yet again.
