The Rock and Kevin Hart might star in the "Jumanji" reboot so let's process that
If we’re talking about classic kids movies, everyone knows that Jumanji is up there with the best. A magical jungle-themed board game story starring Robin Williams (and 13-year-old Kirsten Dunst!) was a perfect marriage if there ever was one, but it was made WAY BACK in 1995, so naturally it’s time for a reboot. And rumor has it that Dwayne Johnson (aka The Rock) and funnyman Kevin Hart are going to lead the cast.
These guys definitely have a different vibe to Williams’ endearingly lovable (we miss you dearly) screwball comedy, but judging by the Central Intelligence trailers, their man-chemistry might just win us over. The Jumanji reboot is being directed by Jake Kasdan, who also has a very different style than the original director Joe Johnston, but he’s responsible for Bad Teacher and a slew of other comedies and TV shows like New Girl — so this seems like it’s in his wheelhouse.
Locking down the dream team for Jumanji might be tough though, because The Rock is attached to Fast 8, which kicks into gear soon, plus he has loyalties to his HBO series, Ballers. Kevin Hart’s schedule is equally insane, with The Untouchables and other projects on the horizon. Those are the fun logistics you have to deal with if you have two of the busiest actors in the world in your dream cast.
Jumanji is set to release in July 2017, so this train had better get moving! We still can’t quite imagine what a re-vamped Jumanji would be like with The Rock and Kevin Hart, but we’ll definitely be at the theaters to find out.
