If you were not yet sick of the many, many parodies making fun of Drake’s “Hotline Bling,” boy do we have the version that just might put you over the edge. Thanks to the Philadelphia Police Department, we might have put the final nail in the coffin of “Hotline Bling” jokes.
Storm Jonas, a blizzard that is expected to be historically massive, is growing in the South. And as it builds, it’s working its way to the East Coast, where it is expected to have a major impact. So, the East Coast is in heavy preparation mode, and the Philadelphia Police Force is pulling out all stops to make the public aware of the dangers and “Do’s and Don’t’s” of a massive storm like Jonas. But despite all of the good that the Police Force is doing, their silliest effort is probably their “Hotline Bling” parody, which actually contains some very important information.
The main goal of the video is to advise Philadelphians against saving parking spaces that have been shoveled. People will often us traffic cones, lawn chairs, and trash cans to reserve these parking spots.
The hilarious parody video titled “Hotline Savesies was posted to the Facebook of the Philadelphia Police Department and has been viewed on their page nearly 400,00 times. The video features Drake and his now iconic dad dancing, with traffic cones twirling and dancing along with him.
Surprisingly, most of the comments on the video do not even reference the video. Instead, people are mostly arguing about the morality of saving parking spaces. But the Philly Police Force had the last say with a Facebook post. “Folks — the spot isn’t yours and saving it is against the law. Don’t fight and argue with your neighbors — if you see an offending spot saver, call 911 and the PPD will swing by and check it out.”
The video may be a little silly, and the singer may not be able to carry a tune, but at least we’re getting helpful information…and you’re definitely not going to be able to forget the song when you’re considering saving a parking spot!
