Times are a changing, but that doesn’t mean everything should change. It’s crucial to move along and grow with today’s culture. You don’t want to get left behind and the pace in which technology changes means adaptation is as important as ever. However, some things never go out of style like good manners and attention to others. With our fast-moving society, we often lose touch with certain cool and classy old-school habits. It’s time to remember how important these gestures and behaviors are — and bring ‘em back!

1. Handwritten Cards

There’s nothing like receiving a handwritten card. An email or an e-card just doesn’t do it. Whether it’s a birthday card, or a get well card, the card receiver will appreciate it. Bust out those pens and cards and start writing. And, maybe you can put that cursive to work!

2. Ring Ring

I know texting and emojis can be fun, but I hear calling someone is totally making a comeback. Whether it’s calling someone to ask them out on a first date, or picking up your phone to chat with your bestie, call that person rather than text them.

3. Pull Up a Chair

Sure, sometimes it’s nice to eat dinner while watching TV. But, it’s also nice to eat dinner sitting at a table and conversing with your family, friends or partner. Save the TV time for afterwards and enjoy good food and good company together.

4. Dress to impress

Crop tops and boyfriend jeans are so ‘in’ right now, but they are so not appropriate for every occasion. Remember, you want to dress to impress. So, maybe save those trendy styles for the nights out with your gals instead of during a job interview or meeting his parents for the first time.

5. Thank You Cards

Oh, the thank you card. How easily it is forgotten. What happened to sending hand-written thank you cards after job interviews or after receiving a gift? Somehow, the “thank you” text just doesn’t feel the same.

6. Never arrive empty-handed

When you’re going to an occasion, arriving with something in hand is always the classiest option. Whether it’s a party or you’re meeting the family for the first time, bring something. Something is always better than nothing.

7. Mind Your Manners

When did saying “please” and “thank you” become uncool? Well, how about we please start saying “please” more often. Thank you.

8. Watch your mouth

There is a time and a place for F bombs. They might not be the most appropriate during church or when you’re with your grandparents. It’s alright to have a potty mouth, just be careful you’re in the right ‘bathroom.’
