This new TLC show is all about helping young women launch their own businesses, and we're here for it
TLC is launching a new series about female entrepreneurship that is sure to be exciting! On April 28th, a reality series Girl Starter will air. The show focuses on a group of young women looking to launch their own businesses.
Throughout the show, eight contestants will be paired up to work on and pitch various business leaders.
They’ll also be competing in a series of challenges and there will even be guest stars. The winner will receive $100,000 worth of cash and services in order to help launch their business.
Girl Starter was created by Jeannine Shao Collins, former Chief Innovation Officer at Meredith Corp., her husband Chris Collins, along with the TV writer and Broadway producer Dani Davis. Those powerful forces behind this awesome show are excited to meld the world of entertainment and social media to create more access to tools and mentoring programs for young women.
This initiative isn’t just going to be about a show.
The hope is to add more content to the site in the form of reference material for potential female founders, as well as anyone who wants to support women in this capacity.
They are already planning for a second season, which is awesome. And they are also planning a ten-city tour along the east coast in May and June of 2017. They are actively seeking people to audition, so get your pitches ready!
