Newsflash: having a baby is a big deal. It seems a little crazy that we have to point this out, but with all the emphasis on celebrity moms getting their pre-pregnancy bods back, it bears repeating. Growing an actual human being over the course of nine months then pushing it out of your body isn’t easy. It takes time for a woman’s body to heal after doing something so amazing. Lately, moms have been more open about discussing the challenges of bouncing back after childbirth and WE ARE HERE FOR IT.
When Chrissy Teigen gave birth to her adorable baby Luna last April, she tweeted something completely real and relatable. It cracked us up and at the same time, reminded everyone that childbirth is a major life event and hey, crazy things happen to your body afterward and it’s completely normal and okay.
Yep, that happened. A gorgeous supermodel tweeted about having to wear diapers after she had her baby (which is one of the many, many reasons we love Chrissy Teigen).
Recently, another mom went public about the same exact thing. And she’s now our new honest mom superhero.
Amanda Bacon just gave birth to her second child and shared a Facebook post which she calls “Motherhood Uncensored.” It shows her newborn baby being cuddled in the foreground, but in the background we see Bacon in her fully diapered glory.
In the photo’s caption, she writes, “I’m sharing this picture because it’s real. This is motherhood; it’s raw, stunning, messy, and freaking hilarious all rolled into one. Having a baby is a beautiful experience, and the realities of postpartum life aren’t spoken enough about. And definitely not photographed enough. Some people probably find this uncomfortable, but why? I seriously don’t get it! It’s probably because this part isn’t talked about. We all should try and educate, empower and embrace every aspect of childbirth, including moments like this. And do it while having a sense of humor. Nothing says welcome to motherhood like an adorable squishy baby, and a giant mom diaper. 😜 Edit. I posted this picture. Not my husband.”
BRAVO, Amanda. You rock!
Congrats on your new baby and three cheers for helping spread the message of how moms are legit wonder women.
