On Sunday, Miss Universe 2015 was announced. While most people are still talking about that totally cringe-worthy moment when host Steve Harvey announced the wrong winner (hey, we all make mistakes!), here’s what we really should be talking about: The fact that the Miss Universe contestants recently shared a bunch of makeup-free selfies to highlight the importance of inner beauty and loving yourself, exactly how you are.
Yesterday, Miss Universe a.k.a. Miss Philippines a.k.a. Pia Wurtzbach tweeted a picture of her lovely makeup-free face, saying, “My 1st day as #MissUniverse has officially begun! Starting it off fresh-faced and #ConfidentlyBeautiful.”
Earlier this week, other contestants were using the hashtag #ConfidentlyBeautiful to share their lovely fresh faces. The snaps serve as a reminder to anyone looking up to them that while makeup and glam looks are totally fun, no one should try to compare themselves to the stage-ready contestants. The morning of the Miss Universe preliminary competition, Miss Australia, whose name is Monika Radulovic, posted on Instagram:
Miss Bahamas a.k.a. Toria Nichole also tweeted a makeup-free selfie with the hashtag #ConfidentlyBeautiful, writing, “Preliminaries today! Woke up fresh faced and ready to do this!”
“You should be confident with or without your makeup on,” wrote Miss Indonesia, Anindya Putri, on Instagram. “Every women in the world is created beautiful, we have to be grateful for that. Miss Universe doesn’t need make up to be confident.”
TBH, we’re loving all these awesome shots that prove that, while the contestants look absolutely *amazing* on stage, they also look amazing without all that makeup and hairstyling. It’s an important reminder that we all should embrace ourselves exactly as we are. Confidence is loving yourself, fresh-faced and natural — even though makeup can be a blast!
Thanks, ladies, for reminding us that we’re all #ConfidentlyBeautiful, inside and out!
