What Mila Kunis had to say to the people who shamed her for breast-feeding in public
Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher, a couple that’s as effortlessly cool as they are beautiful, had they first baby Wyatt in 2014. Mila made the choice to breastfeed, a decision she spoke openly about in interviews. On The Late, Late Show she even called breastfeeding “a great workout.” Sounds like something Mila would say. She recently spoke with Vanity Fair about what it was like to breastfeed her newborn baby.
“I support every woman’s choice in what she wants to do and whatever makes them happy, but for me, I did nurse my child and I literally breastfed everywhere.”
But like, literally, everywhere.
“There were many times where I didn’t bring a cover with me, and so I just did it in a restaurant, in the subway, in the park, at airports and in planes.”
A mother’s gotta do what a mother’s gotta do, and Mila wasn’t about to compromise Wyatt’s wellbeing for the sake of others.
“Why did I do it in public? Because I had to feed my child. She’s hungry.”
You tell ’em, Mila. She went on to say that she and Ashton were actually surprised to see how many dirty looks and glances of disapproval they were receiving, as if this natural act were something to be disgusted by.
“In the States and in our culture, we sexualize the breast so much that there’s an aspect of it that people just don’t know how to wrap their head around the idea of showing your breast in public.”
Mila is spot on. The female body has been oversexualized so much that when people witness a female body doing something completely natural and organic, it doesn’t register that way.
LOOK AT THEM. I can barely take it.
Mila is pregnant with her second baby and we are SO excited for the couple to meet him or her. While they’re waiting for the big day, she says she’s got the same plan for her next child. She’s going to do everything she can to raise a healthy, happy kid, even if that means breastfeeding in public places. YASS, queen!
