Whoever is running the social media for Merriam-Webster needs a medal. The famous authority on the English language has been getting a lot of attention lately, and not for their work making dictionaries or thesauruses.

The Twitter account for the publishing company has become one of the best places on the web to find hilariously shady tweets, often directed at trolls that don’t know any better.

The centuries-old publishing company has been doing a lot lately to show their allyship for the for the queer community online. Using what they know best (the power of language), the dictionary company has been able to show us exactly why words and language are so important.

Of course, there’s been pushback from online trolls and people who just don’t understand the significance of this work. But the Merriam-Webster Twitter account has been able to hilariously shut down negativity that springs up.

Trolls, look out. We have a new ally on our side.
