You’d think after creating, touring, and winning a few Grammys for Pure Heroine and curating the Mockingjay Part 1 soundtrack, Lorde would wanna take a little vacation from making music, but oh no. Lorde has heard our desperate pleas for a new album, and is officially working on her sophomore LP.

Though details on the album are scant, Lorde “very tentatively” started working on the album back in October. She told Rolling Stone,  “I’ve done a lot of writing, lyrically, but I started the [Mockingjay] soundtrack just as I was getting into album stuff, and that took up all my creative head. I have been plotting out ideas. . .I don’t really have any sort of timetable. I’m not in any kind of rush.”

Just yesterday, Lorde’s producer and collaborator, Joel Little, confirmed to Australia’s Triple J radio that the two would be getting back into the studio within the month. Their first plan of action? Writing (of course)! He explained in the interview, “We haven’t got some planned out ‘this is what it’s going to sound like’ . . . I think we’re just going to start writing and when it starts to feel right, we’ll know that it’s right. It’s pretty simple really.”

Seeing as Joel Little produced every track on  Lorde’s debut album, Pure Heroine, he and Lorde have proven to be a promising team. Not to mention it seems as though they’re on the same page when it comes to not forcing the creative process.

By all means—take your time, guys. Just don’t take too much time. I know, it’s selfish, but can you blame us? We’ve been craving some new Lorde tunes!
