Kristen Bell is coming to iZombie. Kind of.

The actress, who played Veronica Mars on the titular series, will have a small bit in an upcoming episode of iZombie. However, we only get to hear her and not actually see her — Bell will be doing voiceover work in an episode for the CW drama.

Both iZombie and Veronica Mars are the products of writer-creator Rob Thomas’ awesome imagination. And, as many fangirls will tell you, both shows have several similarities, with iZombie constantly paying homage to Mars and inserting an Easter egg here and there that only diehard fans might pick up. iZombie has also featured several cameos by actors who appeared on Veronica Mars. Now, finally, Veronica Mars herself is coming to iZombie!

The star of iZombie, Rose McIver, confirmed the news in a video recorded exclusively for EW. Kristen Bell will have a voice-over role in the episode “Fifty Shades of Grey Matter,” which airs Tuesday, January 26. In the episode, Liv (McIver) eats the brains of a poisoned librarian who also happens to write erotic fiction, hence the name of the episode. There’s no word yet on how Bell’s voiceover fits in with the episode.

We’re definitely keeping our fingers crossed in hopes this paves the way for a major Veronica Mars crossover — doesn’t Veronica Mars the Zombie Slayer have a nice ring to it? We could totally see it happening.

iZombie will return January 12 at 9/8c on The CW.
