Though Evie the cat is only two years old, she’s already experienced a lot. There was the time the can opener broke, there was the incident with the toad that got into the basement, there was her harrowing run-in with the vacuum — just to name a few.

That’s why Evie has decided to put it all down on paper.

“She just finished off the first draft last night,” confirmed Joel Turtledove, acquisitions editor at HarperCollins, which gave the kitten a $250,000 advance — unheard of for a memoir of a relatively obscure figure.

“We think she’ll play well in the growing ‘stuff about pets’ market,” said Turtledove, citing the recent mega-successes of Boo, Grumpy Cat and Lil Bub.

The manuscript will now go into editing, and HarperCollins expects to release the book this fall.
