Time flies when you’re having fun (or, let’s be real…time just flies in general), and sometimes we forget to truly sit back and reflect on our experiences. But we just heard a pretty amazing idea (especially for those with kids):  Kim Kardashian apparently writes her kids letters every year about all the impirtant things that happened, and plans to give the letters to them when they turn 21.

Um, this just may be the most touching thing we’ve ever heard.

This is a tradition that actually spans generations in her family, as she revealed on Twitter that her dad used to write her letters when she was a student. Awww.

We absolutely love this thoughtful and forward-thinking idea, because it’s not only a super special gift to give your kids, but it’s a great way for adults to take some time out and reflect on their year. Also, who doesn’t love getting letters?

For example, you can write a letter to your future self, like five or 10 years from now. Wouldn’t that be BEYOND fascinating? You can also conduct family interviews with your parents or grandparents, because it’s something you’ll be SO glad you have.

Parents magazine has a great list of even more ideas, including giving kids a leadership role in family event planning, planting a garden together, making arts and crafts, and starting a family book club.
