John Oliver tells us what to do with those disappointing Christmas gifts
In this festive season of giving and being merry, of course we appreciate every bit of kindness and generosity that comes our way. However, sometimes we end up with some seriously bummer gifts. It doesn’t mean the person who gave them didn’t mean well, it’s just inevitable that, especially if you don’t know the recipient that well, sometimes your gifts will fall flat.
If you’re someone who has ever gotten the bum end of that deal (and let’s face it, it’s happened to all of us at least once) then John Oliver is here with a solution. Although Last Week Tonight is on break until February, John Oliver posted a web exclusive explaining how to handle these gifts, and how to handle the inevitable next step: regifting.
Regifting, the act of taking a gift you don’t want and giving it to someone else, is a tricky business. It’s a good way to make sure the unwanted gift you were given ends up in a happy home, but you’re walking on thin ice, especially if there’s a possibility the person you’re giving the gift to knows the original gifter.
Oliver addresses this and more, and leaves us with a pretty foolproof solution to handling these unwanted presents. Watch below!
