Considering 74% of our population suffer from a fear of public speaking, we can’t even imagine what it would be like to win an Oscar and then have to give a speech in front of your esteemed peers while being broadcast to millions on national television. And in our opinion, our beloved Jennifer Lawrence handled her first Oscar win like a champ. But in a recent interview with the Graham Norton Show, Jennifer admits that she felt like anything but a champion when she won Best Actress in 2013 for Silver Linings Playbook:
Oh, poor Jennifer!
According to Lawrence, there was some sort of issue concerning her birth control, which led to her hormones being completely out of whack on the night of the awards. What a night for a mix-up! No wonder she felt slightly hysterical; we would too. When my hormones are out of whack, I cry when I drop a pen.
What’s funny to me is that the rest of us love Jennifer Lawrence for precisely the reason she feels so embarrassed: that trip. She handled it with aplomb and humor. And plenty of celebrities forget to thank those they want to thank the most in the midst of giving a speech — Hilary Swank forgot to thank her then-husband when she won in 2000 for Boys Don’t Cry. If you watch Jennifer Lawrence’s Oscar speech, it’s obvious that she is in complete shock. We’re impressed she remembered anyone’s name! And its not like David O. Russell has held her kerfuffle against her, considering he’s gone on to cast the actress in two movies he’s directed since.
As for pizza, at least it was a delicious straw that broke the camel’s back!
We love you J-Law! Don’t feel bad.
