How the Internet banded together to help a sick fan meet life hero Taylor Swift
Delaney Clements is only thirteen years old, but she’s been battling cancer for five long years. She has neuroblastoma, which is one of the most common childhood cancers. Sadly, Delaney’s mom posted to Facebook earlier this month that the cancer had spread to her daughter’s brain. Wendy Campbell wrote that Delaney is expected to enter hospice care, and “our goal now is to keep Delaney as comfortable as possible and keep her spirits uplifted as she travels on a journey we fought so hard to avoid.”
One way that Delaney’s family and friends hoped to keep her in good spirits was by arranging a meeting with her life hero, Taylor Swift. But that’s easier said than done. Taylor’s a pretty busy woman. So Delaney’s support system started a social media campaign using the hashtag #delaneymeettaylor, and guess what, guys: Taylor Swift noticed, and she totally showed up to shower Delaney with love, support and selfies…lots and LOTS of selfies.
It also looks like Taylor may have given Delaney a red lipstick tutorial. And might we say AWESOME?! I mean, if we could have anyone teach us how to rock a red lip, Taylor Swift would be right at the top of the list. This photo is seriously adorable in a million ways:
Our hearts are exploding over this entire story. We love you, Taylor and we love you, too Delaney. It’s just a big love fest all around.
