Fashion changes a ton between seasons, but it evolves a monumental amount over the years. A decade makes all the difference in redefining what we consider “hip” — and a century’s worth can make it look like we’re living in a whole different galaxy. But just how much has American style changed in the last 100 years for guys and gals alike? Thanks to a new video by Mode, we now have a very visual answer.

In their latest video, Mode compares men’s and women’s fashion by decade since the early 20th Century — and the results are absolutely fascinating. From the easy elegance of the ’30s to the bright colors of the ’60s to the grunge vibes of the ’90s, fashion has gone through quite the roller coaster over the years. To give you the best idea of how much fashion can change, just take a quick look at the style du jour for the ’10s.

. . . Then compare it with today.

That being said, the one thing that seemed to feature heavily in a lot of the decades was hats. Who knew the U.S.A.’s hat game was so strong?

Regardless of which look you fancy best, this video definitely proves that fashion is ever-changing — and we can’t wait to see what comes next. Check out the whole thing for yourself below!
