Justin Bieber is a STYLE GOD. Jk, his stylist is, but he is a boy vessel for the genius that is his wardrobe. Justin Bieber’s style evolution is probably my fave thing on the Internet. Back in the purple-hoodie era I couldn’t care less, but when Justin started wearing flannel and vintage tees with Kurt Cobain or Tupac’s faces on them, I was like YASS JUSTIN SLAY ME THROUGH MY ACTUAL HEART.

JB’s new aesthetic is all thanks to this man, Jerry Lorenzo. Does this ~*~vibe~*~ look familiar?

Jerry Lorenzo is the creator of the clothing brand Fear of God and worked as the Style Director on Bieber’s current Purpose tour.

When images from Bieber’s tour began to surface online, my jaw was on the floor. I was obsessed with ALL OF IT. As a woman who has often dabbled in a slightly androgynous style of dress off-and-on for most of my life, I was rabid for Justin’s tour clothes. After admiring his style from afar, I was like, Screw it, I wanna dress like Justin Bieber! And so I did!

My Thoughts:

When I tried to dress exactly like Bieber, down to the double red flannel, I felt boyish and awkward –which is weird because I usually LOVE boyish and awkward. I actually describe my personal aesthetic as “Adult Tomboy” and while the photo on the left is definitely the image of an adult tomboy, I didn’t feel that great in it. So I took off the sleeveless flannel and added some heels and legitimately thought this was a cute look. I could have added a blazer and wore it to drinks or something.

Also, I went all the way to a Hot Topic to buy that Tupac shirt. Yes, A HOT TOPIC. #Pray4me.

Reactions:

I thought I killed it with that Tupac find and the cashier girl at a bakery told me, “I like your shirt.” Score.

My Thoughts:

This was a VERY comfy look, however, I felt like I was in pajamas. I was working from a coffee shop that day and was afraid people would think I was some schlub in pajamas using up the wifi for 8 hours, turns out, everyone who works from coffee shops in LA is a schlub in pajamas using up the wifi for 8 hours! While Justin did not wear a Kurt Cobain shirt on stage, he sometimes wore a Cobain shirt instead of the Tupac shirt with his red flannel ensemble. This Kurt Cobain shirt was also courtesy of Hot Topic.

Reaction:

I got exactly one reaction which was “What are you wearing?” from my boyfriend. Chill.

My Thoughts:

This outfit was closest to something I’d actually wear. While I did not have an additional Tupac shirt for this look, I decided to go with a Kanye West shirt. I felt like it was still canon seeing as Justin likes wearing shirts that feature the faces of artists he loves and I know he loves ‘Ye.

Reactions:

While waiting in line for an Acai bowl (#LA) a very cool LA teen boy stopped me to say, and I quote, “Omigod, I love your whole outfit. I saw the jacket first and was like, Ahh. And then I looked down and was just like, I love everything. It’s so great.” Since LA teens are basically the first wave of all that is fresh and fashionable, I was feeling like a GAWD.

My Thoughts:

Today I kinda gave up. I had just gotten back from a destination wedding and didn’t feel like sifting through my closet for Bieber-inspired wear. However, I DID notice that Bieber loves cutting the sleeves off his shirts and then wearing them over another shirt with sleeves. One shirt with its sleeves intact would suffice, but that is the normal way and this is the BIEBER way.

Reaction:

“Are you going to the gym?” is how my roommate reacted to this outfit when I asked her to take photos of me.

My Thoughts:

I had no idea if Justin was wearing a kilt or a flannel tied around backwards. I also did not have a Marilyn Manson tee, nor was I willing to buy one because I draw the line SOMEWHERE. I felt like an idiot with my flannel worn backwards, so just like day one, I switched it up, threw on some heels and was living for the new outfit. SLAAY. I actually went to a show and dinner with some friends and nobody really noticed or cared about my outfit. I felt like I had finally absorbed Bieber-style into my own personal wardrobe. **I am so sorry about the state of my bedroom floor. Justin Bieber would NEVER**

Reaction:

None, literally none. I just passed for regular, I guess?

Final Thoughts:

Would I dress like Justin Bieber all the time? Probably not. I felt like I was wearing oversized clothes a lot of the time, even though every item was from my own wardrobe. There was something unfinished about a woman going FULL BIEBER. I know plenty of guys who would kill in these outfits, but something about me just seemed…sloppy. That being said, I can’t wait to pair my new Hot Topic faux vintage tees with some skinny jeans and flannel and an ankle strap heel! THANK YOU JUSTIN BIEBER FOR ALL THAT YOU DO! You have truly given my wardrobe #Purpose.
