Something happened last night on on The Walking Dead, and we need to talk about it. If you haven’t watched Sunday night’s episode of TWD, close this tab, like, immediately —because there will be MEGA spoilers.

In yesterday’s episode, “East,” not only does Carol try to get the hell outta dodge (aka, Alexandria), but our zombie survivor crush Daryl does, too. Haunted by Denise’s murder and how he basically let her killer (Dwight) get away (twice, now), Daryl heads back to the location where she was killed. Glenn, Michonne go after him, trying to convince him to come back home —but to no avail. Rosita decides to join Daryl on his Dwight Hunt, because she’s a badass.

Except since it’s The Walking Dead and The Walking Dead likes to shamelessly rip our hearts out more frequently than not, Glenn and Michonne are caught, and Daryl and Rosita find them, and that’s when Daryl is SHOT BY THAT UNGRATEFUL JERK DWIGHT AND OMG THERE IS SO MUCH BLOOD.

Norman Reedus (who plays Daryl) tells The Hollywood Reporter it’s actually unclear whether Daryl is dead or not. In response to THR, who asks Reedus if maybe that’s not Daryl’s blood, Reedus replies, “You don’t know where he shoots him, but that definitely is his blood right there. Dwight knows if Daryl spins around, he’s not spinning around to say something; he’s spinning around to attack. Dwight knows if Daryl turns around, Daryl is going to end him. But that’s definitely Daryl’s blood.”

So. Is Daryl dead? Like dead-dead, or oh-we’re-just-going-to-make-you-panic-until-the-next-episode dead?

Of course, the Internet is NOT taking this maybe-death lightly.

Like, some will straight-up boycott TWD if this greasy-hair babe bites the dust:

Some are in disbelief:

Others know TWD will never be the same again if Daryl is really dead:

And some have just accepted that they’re going to be dealing with some major TWD anxiety this week:

So, TWD fanhumans. Do YOU think Daryl is really dead?
