Get ready, friends, because your rage meter is about to skyrocket off the charts. A 20-year-old woman in Michigan was kicked out of the mall for “inappropriate” dress this weekend — and you know what she was wearing? Shorts and a Finding Nemo tank top that read, “Just keep swimming.”

YUP!

Apparently a children’s cartoon fish was too scandalous for the shoppers at Woodland Mall, because one patron reported Hannah Pewee’s outfit to mall security, and she was subsequently kicked out.

In a Facebook post that’s been shared nearly 7,500 times and received 10,000 reactions, Pewee explains that she went to the mall with her sister on a 90-degree day, wearing what pretty much any sane person would wear in that kind of weather.

“But apparently, how I was dressed was too slutty for the public,” she wrote.

Check out of the outfit that got Pewee kicked out of the mall.

In an interview with a local news station Pewee said, “We ordered our drinks [at Starbucks] and we were just standing in that area where you wait for them to be delivered and one of the security guards came up to me and said, ‘Miss, can we talk to you for a second?'” she said. “I was like, ‘OK.’ I had no idea what was going on.”

On Facebook, Pewee noted that there were plenty of other young women standing nearby wearing the same shorts and tank top outfit, but none of them were asked to leave.

“I complied. I’m not a confrontational person,” she told WoodTV. “Even though I didn’t feel it was right, I didn’t want to get in their faces and be like, ‘No I’m not leaving,’ and start a big scene. But after I left, I was like, ‘I don’t feel like I should have been treated like that,'” which is why she decided to share her story on social media.

The mall’s website does list a “dress code,” but Pewee’s outfit doesn’t seem to violate it. It reads:

The mall has since apologized to Pewee, and she says she hopes “some good can come out of this all.”

Here’s hoping Hannah’s right and no one else has to suffer this kind of shaming and humiliation.
