It may be a new year, but now is the best time to get your sleep habits on track. Whether you’re struggling to fall asleep (and stay asleep throughout the night), or you just want to have deeper sleep, practicing better sleep habits can improve your health and everything else in your life.
Thankfully, this sleep trick can help you not only fall asleep faster, but look stylish while you’re doing it — wear sunglasses before bed.
It all started when sleep researcher Glenn Landry was looking to help people who struggled to fall asleep at night. As has been studied previously, exposure to blue light impacts your ability to have quality sleep at night.
The electronic light that’s emitted from your laptop or cell phone has a lasting impact on your health — the blue light tricks your brain into thinking that you should be awake, throwing off your sleep schedule.
That’s why Landry suggests wearing sunglasses for two hours before you to go bed.
He tells CBC News:
This tricks your circadian clock and helps your body better settle for bedtime. This may be an odd trick, but if it helps get your body’s circadian rhythm back on track, there’s no harm right?
