This Olympian ran a race while five months pregnant, and the photos are truly jaw-dropping
We absolutely love seeing strong, amazing women inspire other strong, amazing women. Last Thursday, Olympian Alysia Montaño ran a race while pregnant and channeled her inner Wonder Woman! Montaño, who is five months preggo, paid homage to the Amazonian warrior and real-life actress Gal Gadot, who previously revealed she filmed half of the Wonder Woman movie while pregnant, too.
The photos from Alysia Montaño’s race are truly jaw-dropping!
Montaño finished seventh in her 800-meter heat at the U.S. Track & Field Outdoor Championships, despite the terrible heat and, uh, being five months pregnant. The Olympic runner wore a Wonder Woman half-shirt, exposing her very cute baby bump. In the Team USA newsletter, she said she was “super stoked” after seeing the movie.
This isn’t the first time Montaño has competed while pregnant; she made headlines back in 2014 when she ran the same event while eight-months pregnant with her daughter, Linnea. With her doctor’s blessing, of course.
Montaño said she hopes her effort empowers and inspires women who might feel pressured to follow a specific trajectory in life, whether pregnant or not.
“This isn’t to pressure women to run during pregnancy. That’s not the point at all,” she said. “We’re just different, and that’s the point.”
We don’t know about you guys but we’re definitely inspired! We might even consider putting on actual pants today.
