Although celebrities may seem like they always have their lives together, we know that sometimes that is not the case. Recently, Kylie Jenner opened up to Complex about her struggle with anxiety due to growing up in the public eye.

Jenner is well aware that she has led a privileged life compared to most, but that life has also come with some crippling downsides. Jenner explained her struggle with cyber-bullying and how any romantic relationship has become media junk food.

“My lips have always  been an insecurity all my life. I felt like no one wanted to kiss me,” Jenner stated. Her lip injection rumors were where her anxiety stemmed from. After the dangerous and mocking #KylieJennerChallenge went viral, Jenner started feeling a different kind of pressure.

Jenner gives credit to her mother, Kris, for helping her overcome her panic attacks. She shared with Complex how she copes with her anxiety. “I learned to slow down everything, focus on things that I love, and say no to things I didn’t want to do,” she said. “I used to [agree] to do everything, but when I started taking control of my life again, I felt better.”

Jenner is thankful for her relationship with rapper boyfriend, Tyga. She said, “At the end of the day I have to live with everything I do. I’m just proud of myself for not going crazy. Tyga helped me with that a lot.”

By opening up about her anxiety, Jenner is bringing awareness to the most common form of mental illness in America. Even though our favorite celebrities may seem perfect, they are actually just like us in more ways than we think. It’s comforting to know that none of us are ever alone.
