Self-love is super important. But sometimes it’s difficult to love parts of ourselves. Especially when these parts are seen as “ugly” or “undesirable” by society. Spanish artist Cinta Tort Cartró wanted to flip the script on how stretch marks are seen. Many times, stretch marks are seen as something to be ashamed of, or something to hide away from the world. But Cartró wanted to show the world that stretch marks are actually works of art. She uses artistic versions of things like stretch marks, period stains, and cellulite and posts them on social media.

She told Yahoo Beauty that she wants women to be able to embrace the unique features of their different bodies. That all bodies should be celebrated. And to stop seeing them as flaws.

Cartró uses paint and glitter in order to highlight parts of the female body. Especially parts that society thinks needs to be “fixed.”

How beautiful!

Cartró started this project to educate her small town in Spain about feminism and racial issues. She decided that her art was going to be a tool to discuss these issues. It’s great to see her messages and her creations reach people on a global level!

She already has over 14,000 followers on Instagram.

Many people are loving her art and the message behind it. It’s important to remember that even when we aren’t 100% in love with our bodies, they are still art. And art can be a powerful tool to change people’s minds. It’s great to see Cartró use her talents as much a powerful force for positive change!
