If you’ve ever been stressed out (which, who hasn’t?), you know it can do some crazy stuff to your body. And dental health is no exception, if the story behind how Demi Moore lost teeth from stress is any indication.

The stunningly gorgeous Rough Night actress hung out with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show Monday evening and dished about how she lost not one, but both front teeth.

“Stress sheared off my front tooth,” she added, joking to Jimmy, “But, in an effort to get ready for you, I wanted to make sure my teeth were in.”

The host then holds up a photo of the star, in which one of her front teeth is unmistakably missing (she clarifies that she lost both, though).

We’re pretty sure we’re not the only ones thinking, “Say WHAT?”

We were having a hard time processing this information, so we went to the almighty internet to get some stats about just how common this phenomenon really is.

According to USC’s school of dentistry:

Multiple sources also point out that stress can lead to tooth grinding, which is just as detrimental to dental health over a long period of time.

Demi Moore’s full interview is above, and it’s definitely worth a watch, not only for the story about Demi’s teeth, but also for the hilarious, helium-fueled Q&A that follows, helping to distract us from our suddenly way more urgent fears about our teeth falling out. And Jimmy’s beard is always worth tuning in for, of course.
