Beard haters rejoice, today is a day to celebrate and promote clean-shaven chops. Appropriately placed in the month before “No Shave November”, we have a time to pressure those in our life that need a nudge to clean up their facial act. Sometimes it seems that the common beard has been misconstrued as a symbol of the degree of manliness a dude has achieved. Let’s face it: some guys look great with facial hair, and others… well, they don’t. The look isn’t meant for everyone, and we as a society need to stop the lies!
How to Celebrate
Have you been looking for a way to break it to your boyfriend… that his beard just isn’t doing it for you? Have you had your fill of finding “leftovers” hiding in that foul forest on his face? Not even to mention how it catches all the mucus and sickly slime when he has a cold. It doesn’t mean you are against his self-expression. But like I said, it isn’t a look that is meant for everyone. Channel your inner Mumford and Sons all you want, but not everyone can be lumberjack suave. Use today to be honest and remind the guy in your life that even though you like him despite his facial flaws, it is time to start fresh. If he really puts up a fight, just remind him (as your hairstylist comforts you before you get your hair chopped) that it does grow back.
Men, have you been toying with the idea of freeing your face? Do it. This is literally the day for it.
“There was an old man with a beard, who said: ‘It is just as I feared! Two owls and a hen, four larks and a wren have all built their nests in my beard.’” – Edward Lear
“I grew my beard out a little bit just to show that, indeed, I am a man.” – Johnny Weir
