The next generation of Green Day has arrived: Meet Billie Joe's 16-year-old son, Jakob
The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree in the Armstrong family. Turns out, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has not one, but two sons who are keeping his rock legacy alive.
Meet Jakob Danger (real name Jakob Armstrong), Billie Joe’s 16-year-old son and the younger brother of Swmrs drummer, Joey Armstrong. It was announced this week that Jakob had signed on to California label, Burger Records, with plans to release an EP.
You won’t have to wait to get a taste of his music, though. Jakob has already released a helping of material on YouTube and Soundcloud, which promises us that, “More is always on the way”.
Jakob’s brother Joey described his little bro’s project on Tumblr as “Super catchy pop punk magic!.” In other words, Jakob Danger sounds like The Strokes are covering Blink 182 songs from 1999 which, on all accounts, is incredible.
Now, before we get down to Jakob Danger, can we please have a moment of silence and recognize that our favorite childhood bands are producing children who are creating future-favorite childhood bands? We’re feeling a little ancient today.
