The Goop pop-up was robbed, lost thousands of dollars worth of merchandise
Gwyneth Paltrow is dealing with a burglary. Goop, the actress’s (very pricy) lifestyle store in New York City, was robbed of more than $173,000 worth of designer jewelry and watches over the weekend.
The temporary pop-up shop inside The Shops at Columbus Circle in midtown Manhattan’s Time Warner Center was robbed by three men on Saturday afternoon; according to the Associated Press, authorities are still on the hunt. Police say that, according to a witness, one of the suspects used an object to pry open a cabinet while employees were distracted. The witness tried to confront them, but they fled before she could reach them.
“There was an isolated incident Saturday afternoon involving a very limited number of items, which was reported to the NYPD,” a Goop spokesperson said. “While the store was crowded during one of our busiest days, thankfully the NYPD responded quickly, our customers and staff are safe, and we remain open for business with proper security precautions in place.”
According to DNA Info, among the items stolen were a vintage Bulgari bracelet worth more than $100,000, an 18-karat yellow Bulgari yellow bracelet from 1940 worth $106,250, an 18-karat David Weiss bracelet valued at $43,750, and three men’s Rolex watches worth $12,000, $7,470 and $3,995.
The Goop store opened on November 24 and will run until Christmas Eve; it’s the fourth Goop boutique to have opened since the lifestyle brand was established in 2008. Boutiques have set up shop in Chicago, Dallas, and Los Angeles.
