Lieutenant Daniel Oglesby of the Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Division, from Fort Carson, Colorado just returned home after he and his fellow troops had been deployed in southwest Asia for the past 8-9 months. As Time reports, at Oglesby’s homecoming, his daughter Cara couldn’t wait for the ceremony to conclude to embrace her dad, so, in her patriotic finest, the little girl ran up to her father and gave him a quick hug. FOX21 News caught the reunion, and it’s since melted everyone’s hearts.

“Cara, she made eye contact with me in the crowd and decided she wanted to say hello a little early so she ran up and gave me a big hug and I just returned the hug back to her,” Lt. Daniel Oglesby told Fox21News.

For anyone with a loved one in the military, or even anyone who has been apart from their parent, partner, or friend for a long time must know what little Cara was feeling. Sometimes you just can’t wait for a second longer to be with that person.

“I was trying to decide whether or not it was good practice to break formation, but I didn’t have the heart in me to not give my little baby a hug, so I had to go ahead and bend over and give her a hug and kiss on the forehead.”

We’re so glad this wonderful moment was captured below. Check out the father-daughter love below:
