The lady Ghostbusters just suited up for the sweetest reason
We didn’t think it was possible to love these ladies any more, and we were wrong. Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon — better know together as our brand new lady Ghostbusters — recently completed their best task yet. They suited up and headed over to the Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center in Boston.
The hospital—which started as a ship based on the Boston Harbor, hence the “floating” name—treats children with all sorts of medical conditions. If you’ve ever stayed in the hospital, you know it’s not a fun experience, especially if you’re a little kid. So when the cast of Ghostbusters took a break from filming in Boston this weekend to surprise patients, they brought smiles to everyone’s faces, and probably big laughs, too.
Not only did they post with fans, they actually checked under patients’ beds with their proton packs to make sure the coast was clear of ghosts.
“They were a true delight to have today,” Brooke Hynes, VP of Public Affairs and Communications for Tufts Medical Center told Today. “They were so kind to all the kids and their parents. They took their time in each room visiting children as young as a few months to teens. We cannot thank them enough for the happiness and excitement they created.”
The best part about this story is how the cast got the “call” to visit the hospital, located right near where the new film was shooting. Apparently, patients posted letters in their windows that spelled out “Who ya gonna call?”
That was enough for these Ghostbusters to drop what they were doing and spend their day cheering up kids.
Writing on their Facebook page, Tufts Medical Center thanked the stars for “taking the time out of filming today to put a big smile on our patients faces!” They put a big smile on our faces, too.
