George Clooney rescues a crippled dog for his parents, melts our hearts
Kids around the world are going to have a hard time topping what George Clooney did for his parents this past Christmas. Ohio-based animal rescue organization LuvFurMutts just revealed that over the holidays, the actor adopted a very special terrier named Nate as a gift for his parents, Nina and Nick Clooney. And he did it all because of Nate’s truly incredible story.
Nate was born with a number of physical deformities before being rescued along with 21 other dogs from the home of a hoarder. His barrel chest is accompanied by a deformed back right leg that sways when he walks. He’s been through several surgeries and, besides looking a bit different, is just your regular adorable dog.
Unfortunately, some people had trouble seeing that. The shelter writes that although a few people applied to adopt Nate, they changed their minds when they met him. Not George Clooney. He had been following Nate’s story online through pictures and videos, and couldn’t help but think he’d make an excellent companion for his parents, whose dog of 10 years had just passed.
Clooney’s assistant reached out to organize the heartwarming rescue. On Christmas Eve, a member of the LuvFurMutts shelter hand-delivered Nate to the surprise of Clooney’s parents. Nina Clooney reportedly cried when she opened the door, and then again when Nate was placed in her arms and she read George’s note, which expressed his wish for them to have a furry friend to enjoy the holidays with.
In addition to giving his parents a gift, George and Amal Clooney also donated a large sum of money to the organization, unknowingly covering the expense of all of Nate’s past surgeries.
We’re not sure who’s happier, Nina and Nick Clooney, or LuvFurMutts animal rescue. The organization wrote on Facebook:
