If your childhood fear of the dark hasn’t quite disappeared, we can assure you that you’re not alone. Who knows what lurks in the shadows of your closet or under neglected piles of clothing tossed to the floor after choosing an outfit? But fret no longer! This DIY galaxy night-light is perfect for kids and adults alike. Iridescent, stylish, and – best of all – glow-in-the-dark, you can count on this gizmo to illuminate your room and keep any boogeymen and monsters at bay.

With just a little tulle, LED lights, glow-in-the-dark stars, and a mason jar, you can bring the magic of the Milky Way to your bedroom. Then relax before bed with this sweet, celestial light for an (inter)stellar night’s sleep.

DIY Galaxy Night Light

Materials:

Mason jar with lid
LED lights (for floral arrangements)
Small pieces of tulle
Scrap piece of wood
Hammer
Nail

Instructions:

1. Rest the mason jar lid on top of the scrap piece of wood and poke a hole in the lid with the hammer and nail.
2. String the LED light strand through the hole and secure the battery pack on the lid with tape or glue of your choice. If the battery pack is too thick, secure it to the side of the jar after the tulle is inserted.
3. Arrange the pieces of colored tulle in the jar with the LED lights and close the lid.
4. Stick on glow-in-the-dark stars using the adhesive provided with them.
