We tried the new "Morning Recovery" hangover remedy, just in time for New Year's Eve
It’s no secret among my coworkers that I like to drink. As a hobbyist mixologist, I’m always trying new bars and new spirits, and crafting up seasonal creations at home.
That’s not to say that living in an 80-proof world doesn’t come at a cost. You know what I’m talking about — the dreaded hangover. Whether it’s that achey feeling that keeps you from getting out of bed in the morning, a headache that just won’t stop pounding, or a seasick nausea worthy of the finest cruise, we can all agree hangovers suck. And as you get older, you get the privilege of the two-day hangover. Look, I love a good BOGO sale, but this is not the time when I want two for the price of one. I’ve gotten lost in a Google blackhole researching the cures for hangovers, and the lists always offer your typical solutions: greasy food binges or just drinking more, which always confused me. I never fully got the “hair of the dog” remedy, to be honest.
So when I heard about this new product called Morning Recovery, I knew I had to give it a try. It’s this elixir that the FDA calls a “dietary supplement” (way less fun) filled with a crap-ton of vitamin B12 and extracts from Japanese raisin trees.
This confused me on multiple levels because I always thought raisins were grapes that forgot their SPF. I mean isn’t that like saying a “pickle bush” when referencing your summer cucumber patch? I digress. Regardless, even if this stuff shaved off a fraction of my horrible hangovers, I would be fully prepared to hand over all my money.
Never one to venture the trail alone, I slacked my coworker, Christina, and asked if she’d like to get *responsibly* drunk with me…for journalism. We documented our antics in the video above, so make sure you give it a watch to see if this is something you’re going to want to have on hand every happy hour until the end of time, or not worth the time of day.
Cheers to the new year, new memories, and responsible, hangover-free imbibing.
