On those probably more frequent than you would like to admit nights when you opt to order delivery food rather than cook, you’re usually in one of two states of mind: Either you’re too tired to decide what to eat, so you pick the first restaurant that’s open on your delivery app, or you want to indulge in a more complex meal that you can’t recreate at home. For those people who look to apps like Grubhub not just as means to find the simplest, quickest pizza place, Yelp has a new list for you: The best restaurants in the country for delivery.
Yelp gathered all the restaurants that offer delivery through the app, then ranked them according to the number of total reviews, and the ratings on each review. That’s quite a few restaurants: Yelp recently doubled the number of restaurants that offer delivery through the app with the launch of its partnership with Grubhub.
Some of the restaurants, like Strada Eateria & Coffee, feature a more upscale menu, with dishes like ceviche and duck salad, proving that takeout doesn’t always have to be pizza and hamburgers. Others serve more creative spins on the typical bar food fare, like Bangers and Brews, where you’ll find spicy Italian sausage topped with chimichurri mayo and huge platters of cheesy fries.
There isn’t a single restaurant in New York City on the top ten list, which will surely prove contentious. There’s also only one Mexican restaurant featured, Tommy Tamale Market & Café, perhaps surprising because Mexican food is a staple of the takeout scene. You will, however, find two places that serve healthier fare, like smoothies and acai bowls, in the top ten.
