One student from Iowa learned that the easiest way to scare friends is to make a Pop-Tarts and processed cheese sandwich. Wait, let us correct that — a sandwich using processed cheese slices and generic toaster pastries. Chris Jorgensen, an Iowa State University student with a pretty wicked sense of humor, decided to post a photo of his creation on Twitter. In just a short amount of time, it blew up — not only did it reach the front page of Reddit, but it got the attention of the Iowa University State police. Pretty impressive, if you ask us.

Aside from his weird taste in food, Jorgensen serves as the visuals editor at the Iowa State Daily student newspaper, according to his Twitter bio. In putting his visual acumen to work, the sophomore unwittingly ruffled the internet’s feathers with photos of his culinary invention. And by internet, we mean other residents in Iowa. See, it wasn’t just the fact that Jorgensen created such a strange meal, but he went ahead and made it seem like a delicacy, captioning the two photos he posted with:

"You ain’t from Iowa if you never had one of these."

The good news is that Jorgensen wasn’t being serious. According to an interview with The Des Moines Register, he was simply bored and hungry, and wondered what the weirdest filling to a toaster pastry sandwich would be.

Still, he’ll have to live with the ridicule for some time.

Here’s the tweet that got everyone so worked up.

And here are the responses he got.

Jorgensen made sure to address a lot of the controversy in a separate tweet.

And he also made sure to clear up some rumors.

However, the best was yet to come. Police officers from Iowa State University decided to pipe in.

We’re glad that everyone got to have a good laugh about the creation — but honestly, Jorgensen? Next time, you might want to stick with the instant ramen and boxed macaroni and cheese.
