So, the last few years have been fantastic years for food creativity. We can’t talk about food mashups without mentioning the cronut, the ramen burger, sushi donuts, or birthday cake croissants. However, it’s time for all of these culinary delights to step over, because there’s a new treat in town, and it’s called a doughrito.

This treat is pretty much exactly what it sounds like — it’s a burrito with donuts in it. It originated at Surfin Donuts, a chain in Southern California, and we actually love that there really aren’t any frills to the production of the doughrito. So many of these new food trends are almost too pretty to eat — we spend so much time taking photos of our food these days that by the time we take the first bite, it’s either too cold or warm to taste good anymore! Without further ado, here’s your first glance at the doughrito:

Here’s a more close-up shot, because you know you want to see what exactly is happening here:

It basically looks like they make you a regular breakfast burrito with whatever protein you want, eggs and cheese, and then a DONUT! all wrapped up in a warm, soft tortilla. That’s a lot of flavors, but somehow, it looks like it could all work really nicely together. Personally, I’d go for bacon egg and cheese with a maple bar.

It looks like Surfin’ Donuts has actually been serving them up for a while now, but people are finally wising up to the flory that is the doughrito. We’re sure we’ll be seeing copycats all over the place soon enough.

And just in case you were wondering, they also serve breakfast sandwiches on donuts, too.

YUM.
