You would think that the mass outrage sparked by last year’s Guacamole-gate taught us all that the traditional guac recipe is not to be messed with, right? Sadly, that’s not the case. For some reason, there’s always someone who insists on learning the hard way, like whoever incorrectly assumed that watermelon guacamole is a good idea.

*groans loudly*

As The Daily Dot reported, Babble originally published the recipe video back in June, touting the outrageous food combo as “the perfect summer snack.” That sentiment was then echoed by ABC7, who shared the recipe to celebrate National Watermelon Day. As a self-professed guacamole addict, I have to say that this recipe completely fails to put me in a festive mood.

Thankfully, the egregious food combination was promptly shut down by the internet. This glorious tweet perfectly sums up my thoughts on the watermelon guacamole shenanigans:

While I’m extremely relieved to know I’m not the only one calling for a stop to the madness, I still can’t help but wonder whyyy, for the love of all thin-skinned fruits, won’t people won’t just leave guacamole be? Anyone who’s obsessed with the yummy, avocado dip knows that it tastes perfectly fine without any insane additions like peas, ugh. In fact, watermelon and guacamole should never be uttered in the same breath unless you’re angrily defending your love of foods with green rinds.

You’re going to want to watch this one sitting down, guys:
