Another day, another change to a staple McDonald’s menu item. This time, it’s one we can definitely get behind — because we’re all about healthier versions of the fast food people love.

McDonald’s is testing a cleaner, simpler Chicken McNugget recipe. The new recipe will do away with artificial preservatives and will contain ingredients that are more recognizable to consumers — like lemon juice solids and rice starch — according to McDonald’s.

According to Chicago Business, The test began in March at around 140 McDonald’s locations throughout southwest Washington Sate and Portland, Oregon. McDonald’s says the new and improved McNuggets “are made with a simpler recipe that parents can feel good about while keeping the same great taste they know and love.” Since McNuggets are a hot seller in Happy Meals, targeting parents is a smart move.

McDonald’s hasn’t released the updated recipe, but new packaging and advertisements publicize that the new recipes don’t have any artificial colors or flavors, even though the current McNugget recipe (which contains a whopping 32 ingredients) doesn’t use those ingredients either. So we’re a little confused as to what exactly the new recipe entails, but hopefully McDonald’s will release that info soon.

Rumor has it that the test of the new “clean-label” McNuggets are in preparation to introduce them nationwide before the Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro begin on August 5th. But there hasn’t been an official confirmation from McDonald’s about the rollout. “This is very much a test,” McDonald’s spokeswoman Becca Harry said.

As far as how the test is going, Harry did say that customers in the Pacific Northwest “have responded favorably” to the new recipe. “More than ever, customers care about where their food comes from and how it is prepared,” she said. But still, “We’re not making any announcement.”

One McDonald’s restaurant in Portland has been advertising the new McNuggets on its Facebook page, and it seems pretty set on the new recipe being the future of the McNugget.

This kid seems to be pretty happy about the change (or just McNuggets in general):

And these people don’t seem mad about the healthier ingredients:

Whatever happens to the McNugget, it’s a relief that McDonald’s is finally taking the necessary steps to offering healthier staple items, even if only their only a tad bit healthier.
