Pillsbury's new fall cookie dough flavor is a salty and tart delight
Although it’s still summer, PopSugar has reported that Pillsbury has a new cookie dough flavor that will leave you craving fall. According to the Instagram account Candy Hunting, Pillsbury is releasing salted caramel apple ready-to-bake cookie dough. Although the flavor isn’t available yet, look out for these salty, sweet, and tart treats at your local Target soon.
The Pillsbury Doughboy already has some fall-ready flavors in his ready-to-bake cookies, like caramel brownie-filled cookies and pumpkin cookies with cream cheese-flavored chips. But unlike those flavors, the Pillsbury Salted Caramel Apple cookies will be a limited edition — and you won’t want to miss them with their apple bits and gooey salted caramel.
This isn’t the first time that Pillsbury has experimented with this delicious flavor combination. The Pillsbury website has a recipe for caramel apple cookies, which uses the company’s sugar cookies combined with fresh apple, caramel, and chopped pecans. Another spin on this flavor profile is a recipe for caramel apple snickerdoodles that use dulce de leche. But if you’re here for the salted part of the salted caramel taste, Pillsbury also has a super easy recipe that takes plain sugar cookies and covers them with caramel and sea salt.
While all of these recipes use Pillsbury’s pre-made sugar cookie dough, the new salted caramel apple ready-to-bake cookies will be even simpler to make.
If you prefer putting a bit more work into your baking, there is always the Pillsbury Caramel Apple Premium Cookie Mix available. Yet we’re stoked for the simplicity of the ready-to-bake cookies that combine the best flavors of fall — even if it is still summer.
