Everybody loves a guilty McDonalds meal from time to time (or, let’s be real, not guiltily and often). Because the chain is essentially the “Old Reliable” of food — you always know exactly what you’re getting every single time. Which is why the following news has left us slack jawed (or okay, just pretty surprised. We have a flair for the dramatic).

We just heard from Delish that McDonalds is adding a snow crab sandwich to the menu at several restaurants in San Jose.

If you’re thinking that crab doesn’t really fit under the whole McDonalds banner, you’re right…it doesn’t (yet). This is just a test run, and it’s cool because it was developed by a Bay Area chef as a hat tip to local Bay Area cuisine (which includes a lot of crab). And there’s nothing wrong with going for the bold choice. Fish sandwiches at McDonalds can be tasty — we already know that from the trusty Filet-O-Fish!

So what’s in the box? Well, KGO-TV reported that the recipe includes Atlantic snow crab, celery, and mayo, plus the standard lettuce and tomato. Pack that into a nice sourdough bun, and it’s a crab sandwich. From McDonalds.

via giphyKnowing how McDonalds have a thing for making food taste yummy, the crab sandwich might just be our new favorite order. It’s kinda on the expensive side at $8.99, so…hmm, yeah. It would have to be really exceptional.

We’re insanely curious about this one, and maybe if it gets super popular and spreads to more locations, we’ll actually get to try the McCrabby for ourselves (full disclosure: We just made that name up).

At any rate, all this McDonalds talk is making us hungry. So, uh, we’ll be right back…
