What could make Alanis Morissette’s most beloved song, “Ironic,” even better? Chicken clucking noises, obviously. And by “clucking chickens,” I mean Jimmy Fallon, Meghan Trainor, and Morissette herself dressed up in chicken costumes clucking the entire melody of the song.

No, that wasn’t a weird dream you had. That actually happened on last night’s Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. It was clearly the only right way to honor Morissette as a guest on the show, and the 20 year anniversary of the 1995 hit. Meghan Trainor also joined to form the band “Jagged Little Chicks” who, we hope, will be going on tour very soon.

The band also featured Chris Tartaro, who often performs with Fallon on their musical segments, although usually with fewer feathers.

I think what’s most impressive about this video is how they manage to capture each word and emotion entirely through clucks, dramatic pauses and all. It makes you wonder what other hit songs would fit into this all-clucking genre. Adele’s “Hello,” of course. “I Can’t Feel My Face” is also a strong contender. Right now, we’ll just have to enjoy this hilarious video until the band comes together to create more hits.
