It’s never too early to start getting excited for Halloween, and what better way to get in the mood than with candy? Skittles is helping us all do that, by releasing Halloween Skittles flavors that seem to be both a trick and a treat. Get you a candy that can do both!

Past the age of 13, Halloween is usually more about scary movies and pun-tastic costumes than it is about the candy we used to get while trick-or-treating, but this year might be different. Now that Skittles has announced not one but two Halloween flavors, everything could change.

The two festive flavors are called Cauldron and Trick Plays.

As candy blogger Candy Hunting points out, Cauldron was available last year as well, and it includes the flavors Lurking Lemon, Petrified Pear, Twisted Tangerine, Bogey Berry, and Gripping Grape. Umm, those all sound amazingly spooktastic!

*Whispers* Skittles, taste the spooky.

The other flavor, Trick Plays, is brand new, and on the packaging it says, “The colors don’t match the flavor.” Basically, you won’t know what flavor you’re getting based on the colors we’ve grown so accustomed to tasting, so prepare for a major identity crisis. Red could be lemon, and yellow could be cherry!

That literally is a trick and a treat.

It sounds kind of like some sort of witchcraft, if you ask us.

It’s worth noting that the Trick Plays flavor also celebrates the upcoming NFL season, so its name could be referencing football, but it’s more fun to think its trickery is Halloween-inspired, because most of the best things are.

Skittles isn’t the only brand featuring sweet treats for October 31st.

At Disneyland, restaurants are serving Candy Corn-flavored soft serve ice cream, which is the perfect flavor/food combination to ease the transition from summer to fall.

Disneyland may be the happiest place on earth, but Target is a close second, and it also has Halloween-themed items on sale already. In fact, Target has swiftly become the most Halloween-friendly store, as it has multiple Halloween collections, like the gothic Nocturne collection, a Stories in the Dark collection, Skeletons & Tombstones collection, and more.

Talk about Halloween goals!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Halloween, and suddenly the end of summer doesn’t feel so bad.
