For even the most seasoned Halloween enthusiasts, there’s always something that will scare you right out of your skin. This year, it might not be a witch or a ghoul… but the rising price of Halloween candy.

You read that right: Halloween candy prices are increasing this year, and that’s not good news for trick-or-treaters.

As reported by USA Today, the National Retail Federation has been tracking the increase in Halloween candy prices, and what that means for consumers during this year’s festivities. One of the reasons why candy is getting so expensive — especially chocolate — is because of cocoa production.

I guess we really love our Halloween candy! A survey by Influencer shows the most popular Halloween candies are Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup, Kit Kat, Butterfinger, and the ever-controversial candy corn.

Be sure to take advantage of any sales going on this year before you stock up on Halloween candy. After all, nothing scarier than an empty wallet to try and meet the spirit of the holiday.
