Some may call January the beginning of the winter doldrums. We, on the other hand, call it the most wonderful time of the year because Girl Scout cookies are back on the scene. January 3rd was the official 2018 cookie launch date (a national holiday, in our opinion). But how much will a box of Girl Scout cookies cost you this year? It actually depends on your location.

Last year, the cost of Girl Scout cookie price in some places in the U.S. spiked 25%. Before 2017, a box of Thin Mints or Samoas would set you back about $3.50 to $4. But last year, boxes of Girl Scout cookies costed around $5, and according to Bustle, that price is expected to stay through 2018. Again, that price may fluctuate depending on your state and the market.

For those of us who usually get our sweet treats at the local supermarket, this price may seem a bit exorbitant for a single box of cookies. But remember, your $5 is going toward a great cause. A Girl Scout representative told Bustle,

By purchasing Girl Scout cookies, you’re participating in shaping our future generation of women. How cool is that?

Forget your post-holiday diet, people. Girl Scout cookies not only taste really good, but you can also feel really good about buying them. Support your local troop and dive into those Peanut Butter Sandwiches like no one is watching.
