It’s December 17th, and you know what that means. Eight days until Christmas, yes, but also, it’s National Maple Syrup Day! That’s right, today we’re celebrating one of Buddy the Elf’s main food groups.

Although dumping it all over a plate of plain spaghetti may not seem particularly appetizing, there are some unexpected ways you can use this delicious syrup-y goodness in some awesome winter meals, desserts, and even drinks. Maple Syrup Fondue

OK, so maybe this one actually does sound like we’re taking a page out of Buddy’s book — dipping everything in syrup. But honestly, there’s nothing better in this world than fondue, and imagine the beauty of dipping cheese and apples in maple syrup fondue. Unfffff.

Even though maple syrup may be super sweet on its own, it’s perfect for the savory dish, too. Take pulled pork — or even better, pulled pork on top of fries for the perfect poutine dish.
