Lavender Lemonade

Don’t you wish there was a magical potion that could cure stress with one gulp? As far as we know, even Harry Potter didn’t have such a miraculous concoction, but luckily we found the next best thing: lavender lemonade.

When you’re feeling tense, it’s always a good idea to stop and smell the lavender. Its scent is comforting and a big ol’ deep breath can settle your heart rate. Lemons provide the body with natural energy and Vitamin C, which make them a great alternative to coffee when you’re already feeling jittery. We also found that adding a touch of purple food coloring upgrades lavender lemonade to full-on anti-stress elixir. Isn’t it crazy how calming the color purple combined with the scent of lavender can be?

Here’s a recipe for a whole pitcher so you can keep it in the fridge for days when you need a mini escape. We suggest sipping this anti-stress elixir while taking a moment for yourself.

Lavender Simple Syrup

1 cup water
2 cups sugar
3 tbsp culinary lavender

Add water, sugar and lavender to a small pot.
Bring to boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
Cool for one hour to allow lavender to steep.

4 cups water
¾ cup lavender simple syrup (above)
1 cup lemon juice
Food coloring (optional)

Add 3/4 cup of lavender simple syrup, 4 cups of water, and 1 cup of lemon juice into a large pitcher.
For coloring, add violet food coloring until desired color is reached.
