Every 17 years, cicadas rise up and cover Mid-Atlantic. The little eggs rest under the soil until the ground heats up (summer time) and then the creepy, screechy bugs climb out of the ground and post up, get loud, mate and ruin many an outdoor activity… until they die in a few weeks.
