Halloween season is one of the best times of the year for so many reasons. One of our very fave reasons? Because it means the stores are packed with candy.

As for the actual act of trick-or-treating, it can be hit or miss with the candy you snag. Everyone always wants those king-sized candy bars, but some houses give out boxes of raisins and that’s just life.

Well the candy minds have gotten to work and they have discovered that candy preferences go beyond house-to-house and that each state kind of has its own Halloween candy personality. And they’ve made the candy chart to prove it.

Influenster surveyed 40,000 of its readers and was able to figure out the most popular candy to hand out, according to state. P.S. It should come as no surprise that the most popular candy on a national level is Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.

Let’s look at our candy map, shall we?

There are of course Halloween staples, like Crunch Bars and Kit-Kats, across the board, but the results do really vary state by state. New York, what’s happening with the Sweetarts?

Study this map, process it, learn it, and then go make some candy-buying choices. Halloween countdown is on.
