Craving Girl Scout cookies? You can buy them online and donate to local frontline workers
Grab your wallets and get your appetites ready: Girl Scout cookies are being sold online. The beloved youth organization behind Thin Mints, Trefoils, Do-Si-Dos, and more, is “thinking out of the cookie box” to bring cookies to you—and continue to their fund life-changing, girl-led programs—during the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). Since it’s no longer safe for the girls to sell their cookies outside local supermarkets or go door-to-door, the organization has shifted sales to it’s Digital Cookie platform, allowing you to order boxes online and have them conveniently shipped to your door.
The Digital Cookie platform was launched during the 2014-2015 season, according to the official Girl Scout website, and allows Girl Scouts to learn “goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics.” It works by connecting buyers with local troops in the area and allowing them to purchase from the Scouts via their personalized cookie website, mobile app, ecard, or direct link.
But with the Girl Scout organization officially suspending all door-to-door sales and cookie booths, use of the Digital Cookie platform is on the rise.
To buy Girl Scout cookies online, simply type in your zip code and select the boxes you’d like to order. Right now, you can either buy boxes for yourself or donate cookies to first responders, volunteers, and local causes in need (or do both, of course) . The Girl Scout organization will make sure the cookies get to those in need safely and you do not need to pay shipping on the boxes you choose to donate.
Girl Scout troops across the country continue to help out coronavirus causes, with The Girl Scouts of Southern Alabama stepping up to comfort frontline workers by donating dozens of cases of cookies to Feeding the Gulf Coast, a non-profit organization that’s feeding those affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
Now more than ever, eating an entire sleeve of Girl Scout cookies has never felt so good!
