Happy Girl Scout cookie season! The legendary cookies went on sale January 3rd. Have you bought your first box yet? You can run to your local supermarket or community center to see if a troop has set up shop. Or, check if your local troop is selling Girl Scout cookies online.
Yes, there is an official way to buy your fave Girl Scout delicacies over the internet. If you know of a Girl Scout who is participating in the Digital Cookie platform, then you’ll be able to purchase online. You can also visit the Girl Scout website to see which councils in your area are participating in the Digital Cookie platform. You’ll be able to contact them to get more information about online orders.
The Digital Cookie platform was launched during the 2014-2015 season. This system allows Girl Scouts to learn “goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics,” as the Girl Scout site states.
Scouts will initiate sales through the Digital Cookie platform by inviting customers to use the coinciding mobile app. Through the app, customers can place orders and pay via credit card. It’s a super easy process with the only downside being that you’ll have to wait a few days for your cookies to arrive at your door.
If you don’t know of any Scout who is participating in the Digital Cookie platform, please refrain from buying cookies on Amazon or eBay.
The cookies that you can buy from other sites may not be fresh, or could even be expired. Plus, if you buy from Amazon or eBay, the money you spend in no way supports the Scouts, which is just unfair. We recommend using the Girl Scout Cookie Finder app as a plan B.
Whether you buy in-person or online, treat yourself and the Scouts to a box of cookies. All proceeds go back to your local Girl Scout council, which provides girls with amazing opportunities and learning experiences.
Eating an entire sleeve of Girl Scout cookies has never felt so good!
